Adapting Educational Resources

We provide technical assistance to tribes, school districts, and organizations that need support and/or customized workshops for their staff in adopting our educational resources including:

  • Tend, Gather and Grow Teaching Toolkit
  • Plant Teachings for Growing Social-Emotional Skills Toolkit
  • Native Infusion: Rethink Your Drink Curriculum
  • The Cedar Box Curriculum

Examples of our recent work include:

  • Adapting the Plant Teachings curriculum for Southeast Alaska in partnership with Kaasei Training and Consulting and the Kayaani Sisters Council. The Alaska version includes plants, stories, songs, artwork, and language that is specific to Alaskan Native communities.
  • Providing a 2-day training on Native Infusion: Rethink Your Drink for Seattle Indian Health Board’s Urban Indian Health Institute grantees. Participants from regions across the country gained skills in adapting the curriculum to their tribal programs.
  • Assisting Cottonwood School of Civics and Science with adapting Plant Teachings as their Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) curriculum. Through a partnership with GRuB, we provided two years of professional development. Each month, students learned about and celebrated a different plant and its teaching.
  • Developing Plant Teachings resources for Squaxin Island Tribe’s Northwest Indian Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center including staff lesson plans, a patient workbook, games, posters, and a calendar.

We also support schools and organizations in enhancing outdoor landscapes to include ecosystem gardens. For more information contact elise@tahomapeak.com.
